Six winters of NWS-against-SNOTEL checking found forecast accuracy here turns on an unresolved snow-measurement question (settled snow depth vs. fresh snowfall), not a fixed per-mountain bias anyone can honestly correct. So we show the number NWS publishes and tell you that is what it is.

Storm Day Strategy

During major storms (55-87" forecast): expect 3-12 hours of avalanche control before terrain opens. Parking will be full by 9:00 AM. Consider arriving very early (7:00+ AM) or waiting until mid-afternoon when some terrain opens (Peruvian/Cirque opens around 2:30 PM). Post-storm days bring rope drop crowds due to modern ski technology and Ikon pass popularity. Water content matters - 2" water equals wet snow setup potential by noon. If rain-snow line is present, hugging lower elevations provides better coverage. West Face opens last; Supreme and backside offer walk-on access when front side is tracked.
