Six winters of NWS-against-SNOTEL checking found forecast accuracy here turns on an unresolved snow-measurement question (settled snow depth vs. fresh snowfall), not a fixed per-mountain bias anyone can honestly correct. So we show the number NWS publishes and tell you that is what it is.

Storm Day Strategy

Heavy snow at Keystone creates excellent conditions for locals who know the mountain. During major storms, most out-of-towners and A-Basin/Copper skiers will crowd alternative resorts. Arrive early or ski 2PM+ for untracked powder. Deepest days see thigh to waist deep powder. North Peak may have delayed opening; watch for avalanche control work on front side. Basin terrain can become a shitshow post-storm unless crowd disperses to other resorts. I-70 closures dramatically reduce crowds.
